About
Ten years of teaching connected movement
I'm Claudia. I teach Tai Chi Qigong because I've watched it change how people live in their bodies — and because it keeps changing mine.
Training and lineage
I trained at the Shiatsu College, London, under the guidance of Sifu Wing Cheung and his senior teachers, and have since undertaken multiple continued professional development trainings to deepen both my own practice and my teaching.
Over the last ten years I've worked with many organisations, including the Kew Gardens staff wellbeing and LGBTQ+ staff wellbeing programmes, the NHS social prescribing programme, private care homes, mental health centres and community groups — as well as running my own weekly public classes in High Wycombe, Brighton and online.
The spiritual side
Qigong is an exercise for the body, but it began as a contemplative art. Beneath the movements sits something older and quieter: the cultivation of qi, the breath, the awareness that connects an individual to the season, the ground and everyone else in the room. In class this shows up as visualisation, stillness, and moments where the mind finally stops arguing with itself.
You're welcome to take from that whatever you need. Some students come purely for their knees or their sleep; others come for the meditation and the sense of something larger. Both are the practice.
How I teach
Inclusively, and without hurry. I teach several Tai Chi Qigong forms — Shibashi and the Eight Brocades — as well as broader qigong classes that pull movements from a variety of sets to suit the season or the group. Seasonal Qigong is a typical example of that wider, curated approach. Because qigong has no long, complex forms to memorise, the benefits — calm, balance, strength, focus — are very similar to tai chi but easier to access from day one. Every movement is offered standing and seated. Nobody is asked to push through pain, hold a posture they don't want, or keep up with anyone else. My classes tend to attract people who thought exercise wasn't for them — and who then keep coming for years.
