About this class
Seasonal Qigong is a typical example of the broader, more varied classes at Vitality Qigong: it draws on movements from a range of qigong sets, curated each week to match the season, the element and the needs of the group.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine each season has its own element, organ pair and emotional quality: the lungs and letting go in autumn (Metal), the kidneys and stillness in winter (Water), the liver and fresh growth in spring (Wood), the heart and joy in summer (Fire), and the spleen and digestion in late summer (Earth). Seasonal Qigong follows that calendar, so the practice you do in January is not the practice you do in June.
This is a lunchtime class by design: forty minutes in the middle of the working day that resets your posture, your breath and your mood, and sends you back to the afternoon feeling human again. You will also learn a little of the theory behind the movements, so over the year you build a practical map of your own energy.
Who it suits
- People who feel the seasons in their mood and energy
- A restorative midday break from screens
- Anyone curious about the theory behind the movement
- Building a year-long, responsive self-care practice
